An invitation to WEB - Women Entrepreneurs Boot Camp

In over 30 years of practicing law, I have mentored young women lawyers and advocated for the advancement of women in law. However, the lack of progress in my profession is appalling. On average, only approximately 18% of equity partners in law firms are women. And, according to a recent article in The American Lawyer (a leading legal industry publication), at the current pace of progress, it will not be until 2181 that 30% of equity partners in law firms are women. In 2181, law firms as we know them will probably not exist.

A few years ago, I concluded that, rather than focus on my profession, a macro view was in order. We need more women running Fortune 500 companies. They will put more women on their boards. They will engage more women lawyers and accountants. And, they will see that women in their companies receive equal pay for equal work.

I do not accept that the next Microsoft, Amazon, Google or Facebook has to be founded by a man. That female entrepreneur is out there, imaging how to solve an intractable problem and building a business to do just that.

While we at Davis Wright Tremaine cannot change the world, we can do our small part. That’s why we have organized WEB – Women Entrepreneurs Boot Camp. Our inaugural boot camp will be held on April 25, 2016 in our offices in New York. The day-long program will be immersive, interactive and focused on providing practical guidance to help women entrepreneurs succeed.

WEB - Women Entrepreneurs Boot Camp
