How to Clean an Office Quickly and Efficiently

It doesn’t matter how big or how small your office space is and how many people are working in it day after day. If you want everyone to be happy, healthy and productive, keep the office sparkly, clean and well-organized.

Commercial cleaning services will regularly give you a thorough clean, depending on how often you want their team to visit your office. Between two scheduled visits, however, you should ensure your employees know how to clean an office quickly.

After all, keeping your office clean and decluttered will be much easier if everyone does their part.

1. Regularly declutter your desk

Everyone should be responsible for decluttering their desk at least once a week.

To keep your desk free of clutter, get rid of any item that doesn’t belong on it, either by throwing it away or returning it to its proper place. Organize your piles of documents, notes and receipts, and file away any piece of paper you don’t need.

Also, remember that you don’t need 15 pens on your desk if you always use the same one.

2. Wipe your desk clean and disinfect it

Whenever you declutter your desk, it could be a good time to wipe it clean and disinfect it. This is even more important if you habitually eat lunch at your desk.

You can use an anti-bacterial spray or prepare your cleaning product by combining one part water and one part white vinegar in a spray bottle to clean your desk.

Simply clear your desk, spray it, and wipe it clean with a damp cloth.

3. Remove dust from your office chair

Unless your office chair is made of wood, you can’t simply clean it with a damp cloth. Instead, use a handheld vacuum cleaner to quickly remove dust, hair, and food particles.

If the upholstery of some of your office chairs has stains, be sure to let your commercial cleaning services team know about it. They should have what it takes to efficiently remove these stains.

4. Clean your keyboard and keep it clean

Of course, it’s best if no one eats at their desk. But if you do eat at your desk, you should make sure to clean your keyboard regularly since you can be sure there will be at least a few food crumbs stuck in between its keys.

Start by unplugging your keyboard. Next, hold it upside down and shake it gently, or use a can of compressed air to remove the debris that is hiding inside.

Then, You can wipe the keys with a cloth dipped in isopropyl alcohol.

5. Clean your computer screen

To quickly clean a computer screen, you must first turn it off. Then, use a cleaning spray for computer screens, or make your own by combining distilled water with white vinegar.

Spray the solution on a soft microfiber cloth, then wipe it on the screen with gentle circular motions. You can then dry the screen by wiping it with a dry cloth.

6. Wipe and disinfect other surfaces as well

Learning to clean an office quickly comes with important responsibilities: disinfecting the surfaces everyone touches to help stop the spread of germs and illnesses.

Light switches, door knobs, and cabinet handles throughout your office should be wiped regularly with anti-bacterial wipes or with anti-bacterial spray on a damp cloth.

Pay extra attention to the kitchen and the bathroom when disinfecting surfaces, but don’t stop there.

7. Wipe windows and blinds

The cleanliness of your office windows is important for your employees, but also for the clients who might come for a visit.

If you need to quickly clean your windows, use a spray bottle with water and white vinegar. Spray it on a cloth, and gently wipe your windows clean.

You can use the same tools to clean dusty blinds and shutters.

8. Empty your trash cans and recycling bins

Even if all your office desks and chairs are free of dust and clutter, your office space will still look unsightly if all your garbage cans overflow.

To fix this problem, empty your trash cans at the end of each workday. And don’t forget your recycling bins.

9. Vacuum or mop the floor

Finally, vacuuming or mopping the floor will add a final touch to all this cleaning you have been doing. But of course, you can also rely on your commercial cleaning services to handle this task and many others.

After all, they have all the equipment necessary to thoroughly clean your office, which gives you and your employees more time to focus on your work.
